Reflections on a New Role & a Must-Read for Tech Leaders

Starting a new job in the last week of April has been an exciting shift, but also a demanding one. The pace and responsibilities have kept me incredibly busy – so much so that I’ve had little time for creative thinking or personal updates. It’s not a situation I enjoy being in, but it’s also a reminder of how quickly operational demands can consume our bandwidth.

To help navigate this transition and reconnect with strategic thinking, I’ve been reading The Phoenix Project. If you manage a technology team – especially in an operations-heavy organization – I can’t recommend it enough. The book is written in a compelling novel format that makes it both engaging and highly relatable. It captures the chaos, the bottlenecks, and the breakthroughs that many of us face daily in tech leadership.

It’s more than just a story – it’s a mirror to the challenges we wrestle with and a guide to transforming how we work. Whether you’re deep in DevOps, managing cross-functional teams, or trying to drive change in legacy environments, this book offers insights that stick.

Would love to hear if others have read it — or if you have similar recommendations that helped you through a busy season.
